Precautions for Using Diamond Cutting Blades

Today, the Huilisheng editor will guide you through the precautions for using diamond cutting blades:

1. Operators must wear appropriate protective gear before operation, such as safety shoes, safety glasses, safety helmets, and hearing protection.

2. The cutting machine should be equipped with protective covers or other safety devices.

3. Before use, check whether the blade is damaged or severely deformed. If damaged, it must not be used.

4. Check whether the chuck of the cutting machine is dirty. If dirty, clean it before installation.

Also, inspect whether the spindle bearings, spindle, or shaft sleeves are severely worn. If wear is significant, replace them with new sleeves or equipment.

5. When installing the blade, ensure the direction marked on the blade aligns with the rotation direction of the cutting machine. Incorrect alignment may cause cutting failure.

6. For wet-cutting blades, ensure an adequate supply of cooling water during use.

7. For dry-cutting blades, allow the blade to idle for a few seconds every 10–15 seconds to cool it. For deeper cuts, use a step-by-step cutting method.

Adding water during dry cutting can further improve performance.

8. Do not perform curved cuts or side grinding during the cutting process, as this may cause blade cracks, segment loss, or core breakage.

9. For angled cuts, avoid excessive cutting depth. Prioritize safety by ensuring your body is not aligned with the blade plane.

Stop immediately if abnormal noises occur, and check for blade damage or loose fixing screws.

10. If the diamond cutting blade becomes clogged during use, it may dull.

Re-sharpen it by cutting on a ceramic grinding wheel or refractory brick (about ten cuts). This can restore its sharpness.

11. If excessive noise or vibration occurs during cutting, stop immediately. Inspect the blade for cracks or segment loss. If detected, replace the blade.

12. To reduce edge chipping of the material being cut, ensure the diamond blade extends at least 2 mm beyond the material.

13. If the blade’s bore diameter does not match the machine’s spindle, use a suitable washer. During cutting, monitor whether the blade vibrates.

If vibration occurs, check if the washer has loosened or fallen off.

If the washer falls off and cutting continues, vibration may increase, eventually causing the blade to lose its roundness and become unusable.

Loss of roundness refers to uneven wear on the blade segments—one side wears more than the other—which can be visually observed as uneven segment height.
